National STEM (Science, Technology, Math and Education) Video Game Challenge is open! Enter Now!
“The National STEM Video Game Challenge will channel the potential of a new generation of game creators to develop innovative tools for learning,” said H. Melvin Ming, President and CEO, Sesame Workshop. Entries can be created using any game-making platform including, but not limited to, written concepts, Gamestar Mechanic, Microsoft’s Kodu Game Lab, GameMaker and Scratch.
The National STEM Video Game Challenge will accept entries from November 15, 2011 through March 12, 2012. Complete guidelines and details on how to enter are available at www.stemchallenge.org.

Community Boating Center Fundraiser Slide Show Susan Conrad to Recount 1,100-mile Solo Inside Passage Sea Kayaking Voyage Join the Community Boating Center and Susan Conrad for an evening of fun and adventure at the Firehouse Performing Arts Center in Fairhaven on Friday, Nov 18, at 7 p.m. Susan will present a 90-minute slideshow recapping the highlights of her Inside Passage sea kayak expedition. Relive the trip with Susan as she shares photographs and experiences of living indefinitely in a wetsuit before her next shower, paddling a marathon for days on end, forging friendships with amazing people in remote locations, pretending not to be intimidated by 700 pound grizzly bears and 40 ton whales, and living her dream. All proceeds from this Community Boating Center Fundraiser go to support Educational Programs at the CBC. Date/Time: Friday, November 18, 7 p.m.

John Muir in the New World Full Documentary about the life of the Scottish-born naturalist who wrote eloquent volumes about his travels in western North America and was the force that prompted the establishment of the National Park Service. Muir saw science as a window into the mind of God.
